BAN vs PAK: Hasan Ali reprimanded for breaching ICC's code of conduct, Bangladesh fined for slow over-rate

 

The right-handed pacer Hasan Ali has once again grabbed the headlines after the completion of the 2nd T20I against Bangladesh.

Before that, during the semi-final against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2021, fans started to abuse him after he drops an easy one of Matthew Wade who went on to finish the match by smashing three consecutive sixes off Shaheen Afridi.

As of now, the 27-year-old has once again got slammed by the fans after breaching the rule of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The incident took place in the 2nd T20I match against Bangladesh where he did an unusual thing that has caught on camera.

During the 17th over of the match, Hasan Ali took the wicket of the opposition wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan and unfairly signalled him to go back to the dressing room.

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) took charge immediately and announced that the 27-year-old has violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. 

"One demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Hasan" - ICC

Bangladesh

According to the ICC code of conduct Article 2.5, "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match. In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Hasan, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period," the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.

Moreover, the Bangladesh cricket team have also been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the course of the game.

The players in the team have been fined 20% of their match fees, as a statement concluded by the ICC says, "In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences. Players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time."

Besides, one demerit point has been added to Hasan Ali's name for breaching the code of conduct and 50% of penalty is likely to be given by the ICC.
