Ravichandran Ashwin tests positive for Covid-19 and missed the flight to England

According to the reports from official sources, Ravichandran Ashwin has missed the flight for the UK ahead of the upcoming series against England. The veteran Indian cricketer has tested positive for coronavirus and has to stay back in his home till he recovers.

As Team India flew to England on June 16, Ravichandran Ashwin has gone underway the protocols which should be followed after contacting Covid-19. Hence, he is expected to join the Rohit Sharma-led side before the start of the rescheduled Test match.

Considering the reports from other sources, the right-arm spinner is likely to miss the warm-up match against Leicestershire and might join the side a little bit late.

According to the reports from The Indian Express, a BCCI source was quoted, "Ashwin hasn't travelled with the squad to the U.K. as he has tested positive for COVID-19 before departure.

But we are hopeful that he will recover well in time before the Test match starts on July 1. However, he might miss the practice game against Leicestershire."

The 20-year-old batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has claimed that he was honoured to see his name with the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and India's best opener Rohit Sharma on the elite list of smashing two hundred.

He achieved this feat in the second semi-final match against Uttar Pradesh where he smashed 100 in the first inning and 181 in the second inning which helped his team to beat the opposition.

After that, Yashasvi Jaiswal shared a few words with the Times of India, saying, "I studied the wicket and realised that it was slow. When Prithvi got out, I discussed the plan with Armaan Jaffer.

I wanted to give myself time at the crease because I wanted to stay in the middle for as long as possible. This was my plan. I know it took me a lot of balls to get off the mark, but once I was settled, I started accelerating," Jaiswal was quoted as saying by CricTracker.

"I wasn't aware of this record. When I returned to the dressing room, my teammates told me about this. I am honoured to see my name with legends like Sachin sir, Wasim sir, Rohit and Ajinkya," the 20-year-old said.
