Watch: A cricket fan wins $5000 after taking a one-handed catch
Over the years, the world of cricket has seen a dramatic change after the advent of shorter formats. Cricketers have become sharper in fielding and have saved many runs near the boundary rope with their extraordinary skills and grabbed stunning catches.
Coming to the point, nowadays, most of the top tournaments have come up with an award or prize money for the best catches of a match or a season. However, few tournaments give a prize for the fans after taking a fabulous catch in the stands. One of those instances took place in New Zealand as they awarded a fan who took a stunning catch while in the audience.
A fabulous one-handed catch; wins $5000
A couple of years ago, a fan won $5000 when he grabbed a one-handed sitter while watching a match. Andrew McCulloch was the man who took the catch during a game against Otago Volts and Wellington Firebirds.
During the match, the Otago Volts batsman Bracewell hit the ball high in the air, crossing the boundary rope. Things changed soon for Andrew as he went on towards the ball and grabbed it with his right hand. Later, he had been asked that what will he do with the prize money and he said that he is going to clear all the debts he has.
