Nitish Rana drops an easy catch and gifts six runs for Jadeja on the last ball

Last night, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have locked horns with each other in the 15th game of the Indian Premier League. During the match, the left-handed opener Nitish Rana hit the headlines after dropping an easy catch off Ravindra Jadeja and gifted six runs off the last ball.

After asked to bat first by the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders, CSK's openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis looked in outstanding form with the bat as both the batsmen went straightaway on the bowlers.

Ruturaj Gaikwad who was criticised for his poor strike rate has done the job for his side. He scored 64 off 42 balls including six boundaries and four sixes to his name. Moeen Ali played a quick-fire inning and scored 25 off just 12 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes.

The skipper of the side, Ms Dhoni also did the same by smashing 17 runs from eight balls. Faf du Plessis ended up in the innings with an unbeaten 95 off 60 deliveries that included nine fours and four sixes to his bag.

CSK posted a mammoth total of 220 runs with the help of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis outstanding innings. The incident took place in the final ball of CSK's innings as Jadeja lofted the ball towards the mid-off region where Nitish Rana dropped the simple one and gifted six for the left-hander.

Andre Russell and Pat Cummins almost won the game for KKR

Chasing the total, CSK bowler Deepak Chahar once again registered the four wicket-haul figure for the second time in IPL 2021. He went through the top-order of KKR and removed Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine for single-digit scores.

However, the powerhouse of Kolkata Knight Riders, Andre Russell came like a tornado and took charge of the opposition bowlers all over the ground. He registered the second-fastest fifty in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.

But, Sam Curran removed the dangerous man by clinching the bails of the leg stump that he left behind. Dinesh Karthik has given all he had and went back to the pavilion with the numbers of 40.

Pat Cummins took the charge in place of Andre Russell and scored 30 runs off Sam Curran's third over. With that, he kept the hopes alive for KKR fans and took the game till the final over of the game.

In the end, Chennai Super Kings won the battle with a margin of 18 runs. Now the yellow army is sitting on the top of the table whereas their opposition Kolkata Knight Riders are placed at the 6th position on the points table.
