County Cricket 2022: Pakistan's Shan Masood will meet Micky Arthur in Derbyshire for the upcoming county season.

Pakistan's top batsman Shan Masood will be playing county cricket for the next season. He will join the Derbyshire team for all three formats of the game. Micky Arthur, the new Derbyshire coach, did his part in signing Shan Masood.

Micky Arthur is a former Pakistani trainer and has worked with Shan Masood in the past. Masood was one of Arthur's primary goals after his appointment to the club. Pakistan's left-handed batsman Shan Masood has signed with Derbyshire as a foreign player for the full 2022 season.

The 32-year-old, who completed 25 tests for Pakistan, has played more than 300 games in all formats and has scored 31 centuries; 14 of them make it into List-A Cricket, where he averages 57.46. Shan Masood has expressed his delight in signing with Derbyshire. He hailed Arthur as one of his greatest influences.

"Playing cricket in England County was something I've always wanted to do, so when Mickey approached me to join Derbyshire, I took the chance," said Masood.

"He was perhaps the greatest influence of my career and I look forward to working with him again at Derbyshire." "It's an exciting time for the club and I hope to be at the top of the league table and use my experience to help the younger players develop."

Shan Masood has scored over 7,500 first-class runs while he also has 4,500 list-A-runs. English conditions are not alien to him either. In 2020, Masood scored 156 runs for Pakistan at Old Trafford, which is his all-time best result. Masood even played for Durham University in 2009. Regarding T20 cricket, Masood has led the Multan Sultans in PSL while he will also bolster the Derbyshire Falcons.

Ryan Duckett, Derbyshire CEO, also praised Shan Masood's signing. "Shan is a hugely talented batter and was a key target for cricket boss Mickey Arthur in his plans to build the Derbyshire squad," said Duckett.

"He knows Mickey's standards and what is expected both in training and in the middle and I look forward to seeing what his experience brings in Derbyshire."
