Chairman PCB assures that no team will drop out of the Champions Trophy 2025

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja is confident that there will be no negativity or failures from the Champions Trophy as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has allowed Pakistan to host the 2025 edition of the tournament.

During an online press conference, the former captain stated that the PCB was able to host a large ICC tournament efficiently and safely. He added that the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted Pakistan the rights to host the 2025 Champions Trophy after a rigorous screening process demonstrated that Pakistan had what it takes to host such tournaments.

The PCB chairman said the board will do everything possible to address the concerns of the participating teams to ensure that no team is left behind.

He added that Pakistan received the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights from the International Cricket Council (ICC) after a robust screening process that showed that Pakistan has what it takes to organize such tournaments. Chairman PCB went on that the board will do everything possible to address the concerns of the participating teams to ensure that no team is eliminated from the Champions Trophy 2025 at the last moment.

He said Pakistan faced a lot of negativity after New Zealand canceled their tour at eleven o'clock and England canceled their tour. Keep in mind that New Zealand canceled its Pakistan tour just minutes before the litter for the first ODI in September. England followed in their footsteps and canceled their tour of Pakistan scheduled for October.

He added that Pakistan will receive the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights, a breakthrough in Pakistan's cricket endeavors as it was not easy to convince the ICC and participating teams to come to the country after the two incidents above. These remarks by Chairman PCB come after Indian Sports Minister Anurag Thakur threatened to withdraw from the 2025 Champions Trophy, just a day after the ICC announced that Pakistan would be hosting the major event.

Earlier this week, the ICC announced the hosts for every major white ball tournament that will be played between 2024 and 2031. During this period, 8 ICC tournaments will be held and 14 countries will host them. India received the hosting rights of 3 out of 8 tournaments, while Pakistan only hosted 1 tournament. However, Pakistan, which became the sole host of a major ICC tournament after a difficult period, did not fit in well with arch-rivals India.
