Australia's squad name for the ICC U19 World Cup

Cricket Australia is pleased to announce the 15-person roster for the 2022 ICC Under 19 Men's Cricket World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies early next year.

The roster was finalized last week after auditions at a training camp in Adelaide. Western Australian Cooper Connolly was selected for his second ICC U19 World Championship after participating in Australia's previous campaign in South Africa.

The Perth Scorcher will be joined by the fast NSW Jack Nisbet, the Tasmanian all-rounder Nivethan Radhakrishnan and the fast bowler Jackson Sinfield, who was included in Queensland's newest Marsh Sheffield Shield roster.

Also in the roster is the 17-year-old Victorian Harkirat Bajwa, who will go on tour as a minor player and will continue to be eligible for the 2024 tournament.

The Australian team is coached by New South Wales development guru Anthony Clark and will play three pool games in the West Indies before the 16-team competition splits into two groups of eight to form a Super League and a Plate Finals series .

The squad will gather for a training camp in Melbourne starting December 28, before heading to the West Indies. Graham Manou, Head of National Development for Cricket Australia said: "It was a challenging selection process, but we are convinced of our system and have been watching the development of our U19 players closely over the past two years," he said.

“From a Talent ID perspective, we've had access to world-leading technology that has enabled wider and deeper conversations between coaches and players. "There were inevitably difficult choices to make, but we will continue to support and monitor the development of all players in our path systems."

Australia Men's Under-19 Head Coach Anthony Clark said:

“Our roster includes players from all disciplines with experience in the domestic cricket environment, and many have shown prominent performances in a variety of strong competitions this season. "The U19 World Cup offers players exceptional development opportunities and we look forward to seeing them represent their country with distinction."
