INDW vs AUSW: Watch - Shafali Verma got dismissed in a bizarre way after smashing a terrific six off Ellyse Perry in 1st T20I

Australian Women arrived in India and played their 1st T20I against India Women at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on 9th December, Friday. Alyssa Healy, the skipper of the visiting side won the toss and asked the opposition to bat.

Batting first, India posted a challenging total of 172 runs on the board. With the openers providing a decent start to the innings, the middle-order batters also did quite well with the bat.

Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma took the finishing responsibilities and smashed 36 runs each. Chasing the target, Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney provided a fabulous start and put up a 73-run stand for the first wicket before the skipper leaves the battle after scoring 37 runs.

However, Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath finished the match for their side and remained unbeaten on 89 and 40 runs respectively. With their help, Australian women won the game and got the lead in the 5-match T20I series against India.

It was a decent total: Harmanpreet Kaur

After getting defeated by Australia, the skipper of India women's cricket team Harmanpreet Kaur shared her thoughts in the post-match presentation. "I think yes (was the total enough?). It was a decent total - we were in the game till the 13th over.

But after that, we gave away too many boundaries and even the fielding was not upto the mark. Night games are always like that - sometimes it's difficult to judge the ball," said Harmanpreet as quoted by Cricbuzz.

"Radha (Yadav) is one of our best fielders, and I think it happens. But we have to take those chances to win. Yes, it did (dew played a role). Our bowlers were trying our best. But once they got their reprieves, they played freely. Have to take those chances to win," she added.

During the game, Shafali Verma smashed boundaries in Ellyse Perry's spell and got dismissed bizarrely. No one expected that she would return to the dressing room after playing this kind of stroke.
