ENG vs SA, 1st Test Live: Watch - Dean Elgar gets dismissed in an unlucky way during the Lord's Test

 

After clinching the 3-match T20I series against England, South Africa is currently engaged with the hosts in the first Test match of the 3-match series at Lord's in London. The One-day series ended up in a draw as both the teams won each with the last match didn't produce any result.

Coming to the T20 format, England won the first match quite comfortably but the visitors didn't let them down and won back-to-back games and sealed the series by 2-1. As of now, South African bowlers have done well in the first Test match against England.

Winning the toss, Dean Elgar invited the hosts to bat. Alex Lees and Zak Crawley opened the innings for their side. However, both the batters haven't been much effective with the bat as they have been dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 5 and 9 runs.

After that Ollie Pope come in at no.3 and looked in fine touch despite the others. On the other side, Marco Jansen removed Joe Root for just 8 runs. Following his dismissal, Jonny Bairstow has been sent back for a duck by Anrich Nortje.

Then Ben Stokes joined with Ollie Pope who was playing well on the other end and started to build a crucial partnership in the middle. Both the batters added 45 runs for the fifth wicket before the skipper walks back after scoring 20 runs for his team.

The wicket-keeper batter Ben Foakes failed to manage the likes of Anrich Nortje and had to walk back with the poor numbers. Ollie Pope who was looking well on one end has been dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 73 runs.

In the end, England have been bowled out for 165 runs with Kagiso Rabada taking 5 wicket-haul for his side. Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee opened the innings for South Africa, as both the batters gave the start that their side expected from them.

They went high on the opposition bowlers and smashed them all around the park. They put up an 85-run stand for the opening wicket before the skipper got dismissed by James Anderson for 47 runs.

After his dismissal, Keegan Petersen joined with Sarel Erwee and put up 53 runs for the second wicket before he was removed by Matty Potts for 24 runs.

As of now, Sarel Erwee and Aiden Markram were on the crease with the left-handed batter completing his half-century. Besides, when England struggled to get their first breakthrough, Dean Elgar failed to stop the ball before it hits the stumps in the spell of James Anderson.
