SA vs IND 2021-22: A BCCI official confirms that Virat Kohli will miss the ODI series against South Africa

India and South Africa are ready to clash with each other in the upcoming Test series which is going to kick off from 26th December, Sunday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the 18-member squad ahead of the series and they will be leaving India on 16th December, Thursday.

Moreover, Team India has to undergo a three-day quarantine in Mumbai before leaving for South Africa. Notably, the Indian cricket team is all set to create a new history if everything goes in favour of them.

In the cricket world, no team has defeated Australia, England and South Africa consecutively in their backyard and if this happens, India will be the best nation to have played the longest format of the game. They defeated Australia in 2020 in their backyard and become the only team to defeat the mighty Aussies consecutively in the history of cricket.

Virat Kohli is not available for the ODI series against South Africa:

Team India has also defeated the English men in their backyard and conquered the series by 2-1. That achievement heaped praise for both the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the former head coach of the side Ravi Shastri for achieving this feat.

However, with everything going good in the longest format of the game, the former Indian skipper of the limited-overs format, Virat Kohli will miss the three-match ODI series against the Proteas.

Considering the recent reports from other sources, one of the BCCI officials confirmed that "Virat Kohli has informed us that he will not be available for the ODI series – he wants to spend time with family as he was in playing for many months with IPL, T20 WC – don’t read social media rumours, there is nothing between Rohit & Kohli."

Moreover, the vice-captain of Team India in the Test cricket Rohit Sharma has also been ruled out of the Test series due to an injury. He is likely to join the side in the ODI series, as some reports suggest that the injury will be fine within three weeks.
