"Dravid, who once scolded him for getting out after playing a bad shot" - Virender Sehwag

The former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag has shared a few things between MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid. He stated that the current Indian head coach Rahul Dravid scolded Ms Dhoni when he played a poor shot and got dismissed by that.

According to that, Virender Sehwag believes that Dhoni become more responsible after being scolded by Dravid. Dhoni came to the spotlight after smashing 148 off 123 balls in an ODI match against Pakistan at Visakhapatnam in April 2005.

After that, he went on to smash an unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka in the same year and cemented his name in the hearts of the Indian fans. The 40-year-old moved on with a lot of struggles during his days but soon, he started to rebuild himself and won many games for the team.

The former Indian cricketer also praised him for building a partnership with Yuvraj Singh. Both the duo went on to finish the matches at their will and helped India to achieve a lot of feats during their days.

"He was given the finisher’s role under Dravid, who once scolded him for getting out after playing a bad shot. I think that incident changed him. So around 2006-07, he transformed and started taking responsibility of finishing matches. (Dhoni) formed an unbelievable partnership with Yuvraj when we registered that record of 16 successive chases," Virender Sehwag told to India TV.

After that, Sehwag shared a lot more things about Sourav Ganguly and his leadership. Moreover, Sourav Ganguly promoted MS Dhoni to bat at No.3 in an ODI match where the youngster utilized his opportunity very well.

"Those days (2005) we were experimenting with pinch-hitters. Dada (Ganguly) had planned that Dhoni would get 3-4 chances at No. 3. If it works then fine, otherwise they would try someone else. Very few captains do it. He first sacrificed his (opening) spot for me and then he gave his slot to Dhoni. If Dada had not done that, Dhoni might not have become such a big player," Sehwag praised the leadership of Sourav Ganguly.
