IPL 2022: England cricketers are likely to miss the final stages of the league

The mega auction for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence in February in Bangalore. This will be the biggest auction in the history of the Indian Premier League which is going to be a 10 team contest.

However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be wanting their players to come back during the later stages of the league. They are scheduled to play a three-match Test series against New Zealand which is going to be held on 2nd June 2022.

In addition to that, we all know that the England Test team is going through a rough phase as they lost the Ashes series against Australia as well.

They didn't win a single game in the five-match Test series, as Australia whitewashed the opposition by 4-0. With back to back losses, England is relying on the bottom of the World Test Championship League table.

England top players were likely to miss the final stages of the league:

Considering the recent reports from other sources, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) wants their Test players to give their best in the upcoming series against the Kiwis.

With the mega auction is just a few days away from us, 22 cricketers from England have registered their names for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League.

If we sort out those players, Jos Buttler has been retained by Rajasthan Royals and other mainstays like Jonny Bairstow, Ollie Pope, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood and a few more will be in the auction pool.

However, the skipper of the Test team, Joe Root has already confirmed that he is not registering for IPL, the all-rounder Ben Stokes has also pulled out his name from the auction pool.

Currently, England is engaged with the "Men in Maroon" West Indies in a five-match T20I series, as three of the five games has completed. West Indies are leading the series by 2-1 and will look to win any one of the remaining games to beat England.
