IPL 2022: 5 teams that can stop CSK from roping Sharduk Thakur in the mega auction

Most of the fans know the name Shardul Thakur who is also recognised as "Lord Shardul" by his fans. He is well known for providing breakthroughs at regular intervals whenever he gets the ball from his skipper.

He came to the spotlight by his excellent performances for Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Moreover, he has done well in the recently concluded three-match Test and ODI series against South Africa in their backyard.

However, the 30-year-old was not retained by his franchise for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. So, let's have a look at the five teams that can stop Chennai Super Kings from roping the right-hander in the mega auction of IPL 2022.

5. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals has retained Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich contest. Moreover, they will not have the services of Ben Stokes and Chris Morris, including the English speedster Jofra Archer.

So, Shardul Thakur would be a great option for them to fill the place of a pace-bowling all-rounder as he can smash some big blows by coming down the order for his team.

4. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals have made four retentions ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League and has retained Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje. Likewise Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals also need a pace-bowling all-rounder who can contribute with the bat in the lower-order for their side.

3. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings

The newly named Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) have retained Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh and has the highest purse for the mega auction of IPL 2022.

2. Ahmedabad (name to be revealed soon)

IPL 2022 - Hardik Pandya

The newly added franchise Ahmedabad has retained Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill for the upcoming season. They will be eyeing the right-handed pacer who had a great outing in the recently concluded South Africa series. Moreover, Shardul Thakur can contribute with both the bat and the ball which make him one of the good buys for Ahmedabad.

1. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians

The four-time champion Mumbai Indians is one of the favourites along with Chennai Super Kings to clinch the title. They have retained Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard for the next season. Notably, Mumbai Indians would like to rope Shardul Thakur as they have already sent Hardik Pandya from the team.
