IPL 2021: CSK roped Jason Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood

The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is going to commence in just a few hours between the Rohit-led Mumbai Indians and Virrat-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.

After that, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals will face each other on the next day at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Dhoni and his men didn't have a good time in the previous season as they won only 6 out of 14 games they played and ended up in the 7th position on the league table.

They had a lack of contribution in the middle-order as they failed to accelerate the run-rate on many occasions and as a result, they lost the game.

But the arrival of Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa will give more confidence to MS Dhoni. With Robin Uthappa opening the innings, Suresh Raina will handle the middle-order duties along with his skipper and others.

Still, they had a problem in the bowling department ahead of IPL 2021. The Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood withdrawn his name from IPL due to some personal reasons.

CSK roped Jason Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood

After Josh Hazlewood pulled out his name from IPL, CSK offered England cricketer Reece Topley and Australia's right-handed fast bowler Billy Stanlake to join with the team.

Both the players refused the offer considering the protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Chennai finally got a solution for the problem as they roped in the left-handed bowler from Australia named Jason Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood.

The left-hander represented Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019 and had been ruled out of IPL 2020 due to injury. He went unsold in the IPL Auction 2021 and finally got a chance to represent the Chennai Super Kings under one of the best captains in the world.

Now, Dhoni and his men would be looking for the arrival of Jason Behrendorff who is yet to join the team. The Yellow Army will face Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals on April 10 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
