Watch: Shafali Verma hits a stunning direct-hit in her WBBL debut

Shafali Verma, playing in her first Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) match in top form, celebrated by dismissing Melbourne Stars' Annabel Sutherland with a superb straight hit on Thursday at the Blundstone Arena in Hobart.

In her first WBBL marketing campaign, Verma will be representing the Sydney Sixers Women. After winning the toss and electing to bowl, the Sydney Sixers will go up against the Melbourne Stars. Opener Elyse Villani used Elysse Perry to short deep mid-wicket on the sixth delivery of the fifth over.

Sutherland, the new non-striker, had already started to make her way out of her crease in preparation for a run. With Sutherland unable to return to the crease, Verma, who had been stationed at short deep mid-wicket, rushed in for the ball and hurled it immediately at the stumps.
