Watch: Andre Russell almost saved the six off the last ball in the T10 League

Team Abu Dhabi had a nail-biting encounter against Deccan Gladiators last Sunday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Deccan Gladiators have been asked to bat first by the opposition and didn't get the start that they expected from their top-order.

Then Wanindu Hasaranga took the charge in the middle and scored 30 off 18 deliveries before Philip Salt removes him. The Odean Smith played a quick cameo in the lower-order and scored 34 runs from just 11 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.

With the help of his innings, Deccan Gladiators posted a quite challenging total of 97 runs on the board. Team Abu Dhabi also didn't get the expected start from the openers as both of them returned to the pavilion with cheap numbers.

Liam Livingstone scored 21 runs and Jamie Overton and Danny Briggs took the charge of the slog overs. In the end, Team Abu Dhabi needed 5 off just 1 ball as Danny Briggs lofted the ball at the fine leg region where Andre Russell almost pulled the ball inside the field. However, he touched the boundary line and umpires signalled it as six.

The West Indies powerhouse, Andre Russell has almost saved the six for his team. Unfortunately, his feet were found touching the boundary rope and thus the umpires gave it as a six. It was a terrific win for Team Abu Dhabi as they are currently at the top of the table with five consecutive wins in the ongoing tournament.

After the match, Liam Livingstone had a few words in the post-match presentation and said, "That was nice to be able to get over the line after we were pretty much behind the game when batting. I think Jamie batted well together with Briggs, who did well to hit the last ball for a six to give us the win."

"We started well and Fidel [Edwards] was brilliant with the new ball. He got some swing, which was perfect for him. Our bowling unit has been brilliant throughout the tournament so far.

The boys are doing well and it has been great fun, even more so when a game goes down to the wire. We thought the last ball was a six but then we had to spend an anxious moment for the decision before we could celebrate," Livingstone added.
