The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 has ended up dramatically likewise off Bangladesh and Pakistan match. The Final of the SMAT tournament has been played between the defending champions Tamil Nadu and Karnataka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 22nd November, Monday.

Having a look at the match, Tamil Nadu won the toss and asked the opposition to bat first. Tamil Nadu got a good start from Sai Kishore and Sanjay Yadav, as both of them didn't allow the batters to play their strokes freely on this wicket. They removed the top-order Rohan Kadam, Manish Pandey and Karun Nair for 0, 13 and 18 runs.

The Abhinav Manohar and Praveen Dubey played a crucial role in the middle-order for Karnataka and scored 46 and 33 runs respectively. Jagadeesha Suchith played a quickfire off 18 from seven balls and in the end, Karnataka managed to post a quite challenging total of 151 runs on the board.

Following the total posted by Karnataka, Hari Nishanth and N Jagadeesan opened the innings for Tamil Nadu and give the start that the team expected from them. After the wicket of Hari Nishanth, Tamil Nadu started to struggle in the middle-overs as the opposition bowlers got wickets in regular intervals.

N Jagadeesan who was looking strong on the other end has been removed by KC Cariappa when he was batting on 41 runs. Then Shahrukh Khan took charge in the slog overs and started to dominate the opposition bowlers all around the park.

The match went to the final over of the match where Tamil Nadu needed 16 runs with Shahrukh Khan and Sai Kishor on the strike. Sai Kishore started well in the final over bowled by Pratik Jain by smashing a boundary towards the third man region.

The match went till the final ball of the over as Tamil Nadu needed 5 runs with Shahrukh Khan facing Pratik Jain of the last ball. As everyone expected, Shahrukh Khan finished off in style by smashing the final ball over deep square leg, as Tamil Nadu defended their title of the SMAT 2021.
