SA vs IND: Watch - Virat Kohli and Temba Bavuma engaged in heated banter during 1st ODI

 

After defeating India in the three-match Test series, South Africa got a good start to the ODI series at the Boland Park in Paarl. Winning the toss, the hosts decided to bat and opened the innings with Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan.

However, Jasprit Bumrah provided the early breakthrough for India by removing Janneman Malan for 6 runs. After that, the skipper of South Africa came out to bat and played some eye-catching shots for the side.

On the other end, de Kock who was looking good has been removed by the Ashwin for 27 runs. Then Aiden Markram has been sent off by Venkatesh Iyer by a direct hit. After that, Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen played remarkably in the middle and added 204 runs for the fourth wicket partnership.

Both the batsmen completed their century and ended their innings with 110 and 129 runs respectively. With the help of that, South Africa posted a competitive total of 296 runs on the board.

Chasing the target of 297 runs, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings for India. Both the batters provided a decent start to the innings and added 46 runs for the opening wicket before KL Rahul has been removed by Aiden Markram for 12 runs.

After that, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli played well in the middle and stitched a crucial partnership for the second wicket before Keshav Maharaj removes the left-handed batsman for 79 runs.

Virat Kohli has also been sent back to the dressing room after scoring 51 runs for his team. The middle-order of team India didn't perform up to the expectations of the fans as Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer got back with the numbers of 16 and 17.

The debutant Venkatesh Iyer didn't be much impressive as he left the battle after scoring just 2 runs for his team. However, Shardul Thakur fought well in the end and remained unbeaten on 50 off 43 balls with the help of 5 fours and a six.

In the end, South Africa defeated India by 31 runs and took the lead by 1-0. However, during the game, Temba Bavuma and Virat Kohli had some heated banter when Virat Kohli threw the ball towards him.
