After winning the first T20, India is up against the visitors, New Zealand, in the second T20I at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. In the ongoing match, the skipper of India, Rohit Sharma once again opted to field first after winning the toss.

Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell give the expected start for New Zealand as both the batsmen dominated the opposition bowlers in the powerplay overs. They added 48 runs for the first wicket partnership, as Martin Guptill has been sent back to the pavilion by Deepak Chahar for 31 runs.

Then Mark Chapman too batted well for his team and scored 21 runs before being dismissed by Axar Patel. After that, Harshal got his first wicket in the debut match and removed Daryl Mitchell for 31 runs. Glenn Phillips played a crucial role in the middle and left the field after scoring 34 runs for his team. In the end, New Zealand posted a decent total of 153 runs on the board.

Following the total posted by the opposition, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started brilliantly for India. KL Rahul who had a decent outing in the previous match is now looking in red hot form with the bat.

He continuously attacked the New Zealand bowlers and scored over 30 runs in the powerplay overs itself. Rohit Sharma has been quite on the other end after smashing a six in the powerplay overs.

Then Tim Southee brought the spinners into the attack and started to contain the runs from both ends. Despite having a good start in the powerplay overs, the Indian openers found it difficult to score against the spinners, Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner.
