BGT 2023, Ind vs Aus Live: Watch - Steve Smith went clueless after Jadeja cleans him up, but bowls a no-ball

 

Steve Smith got another life after Ravindra Jadeja bowls no-ball while achieving his 250th wicket in the longest format of the game. Talking about the ongoing clash between India and Australia, Pat Cummins opted to bat after winning the toss.

David Warner and Usman Khawaja opened the innings for Australia as both the batters were dismissed for just 1 run by Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj. Despite losing both the openers, Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith rebuilt well for their side and added 82 runs for the third wicket.

While both the batters getting settled on the track, Ravindra Jadeja provided an important breakthrough by sending back Marnus Labuschagne for 49 runs. In the very next ball, Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Matt Renshaw who had to walk back with a duck.

Then the left-arm spinner got the wicket of Steven Smith who had no idea how the ball has gone through his defence while batting on 37 runs. Peter Handscomb and Alex Carey have got a good start but failed to capitalise on big numbers as they returned to the dressing room scoring 31 and 36 runs.

In the end, the Australian side has been bowled out for 177 runs with Ravindra Jadeja getting 5 wickets under his belt. With a trail of 177 runs, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul opened the innings for India and provided a good start for the side.

They added 76 runs for the opening wicket before KL Rahul was dismissed by debutant Todd Murphy for 20 runs. Surprisingly, Rohit Sharma called Ravichandran Ashwin at the top order as he scored 23 runs for the side.

Cheteshwar Pujara also returned to the dressing room after scoring just 7 runs whereas Virat Kohli was also dismissed by Todd Murphy for 12 runs. Following that, Suryakumar Yadav also failed to score runs as the right-handed batter was cleaned by Nathan Lyon for 8 runs.

Rohit Sharma who smashed 120 runs with the help of 15 fours and 2 sixes had to walk back after being bowled by the opposition skipper Pat Cummins. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel batted well in the lower order as they scored 70 and 84 runs respectively.

At the end of the first innings, India posted a huge total of 400 runs and has a lead of 223 runs. However, India restricted Australia to 91 runs and won the battle with a margin of 91 runs.
