Ashes 2021: Watch - "She Said Yes!", England fans propose to Australian girlfriend during Gabba Test

The first Test of Ashes 2021-22 has come to an end as the hosts, Australia defeated England by 9 wickets. After deciding to bat first, England didn't get the expected start in the match as they lost Rory Burns, Joe Root, Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes for cheap numbers.

Haseeb Hameed who opened with Rory Burns returned to the pavilion after scoring 25 runs for his team. Then Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler steadied the drowning ship by adding 52 runs for the sixth wicket partnership.

Both Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler went back to the dressing room after scoring 35 and 39 runs respectively. Chris Woakes added some runs in the lower order and scored 21 runs, as England have been bowled out by the hosts for 147 runs. Pat Cummins got the first five wicket-haul as a captain for Australia in Tests. 

A marriage proposal during Gabba Test:

With a trial of 147 runs, England got a good start as they removed Marcus Harris for a duck. But David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne didn't let the opposition bowlers settle and played a lot of quality shots around the park. They added 156 runs for the second wicket and returned to the dugout after scoring 94 and 74 runs respectively.

Steve Smith and Cameron Green have also been dismissed by the opposition bowlers for cheap numbers. Then Travis Head took the charge and stole the show from England's arms. Coming at number 5, Travis Head scored 154 runs and added crucial partnership with the lower-order batters.

Mitchell Starc also played some good shots and scored 35 runs for his side. In the end, Australia posted 425 runs and gave a competitive lead of well above 250 runs for England. And once again, the visitors didn't get the expected start, as both the openers Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed went back to the pavilion after scoring 27 and 13 runs.

However, this time Joe Root and Dawid Malan didn't let the opposition bowlers overwhelm them as both the batsmen added 159 runs for the third wicket partnership. Then both the batters returned to the dressing room after scoring 82 and 89 runs respectively. 

The middle-order of England couldn't face the opposition bowlers and had been bowled out for 297 runs. Australia got a target of 20 runs and won the match by 9 wickets. Besides, an English fan proposed to his girlfriend during the match and the video went viral among the fans on social media.
