T20 World Cup 2022: Watch - Akeal Hosein left in splits after witnessing 104-m monstrous hit from Rovman Powell that went outside the ground
West Indies and Zimbabwe competed with each other in the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Talking about the game, Nicholas Pooran, the skipper of the West Indies side won the toss and decided that they will bat.
Kyle Mayers and Johnson Charles opened the innings and gave a decent start. However, Zimbabwe bowlers have bowled well and contained runs during the powerplay and middle overs of the game.
Johnson Charles was the only man to get over the 40-run mark, scoring 45 runs before returning to the dressing room. In the slog overs, Rovman Powell and Akeal Hossain have played some good shots and helped their side to post a fighting total of 153 runs on the board.
With a competitive target on the board, the skipper of Zimbabwe, Regis Chakabwa opened the innings Wesley Madhevere but failed to provide the start that their side expected from them.
It still was a good wicket for cricket: Alzarri Joseph
The West Indies bowlers didn't let the opposition batters settle in the middle as they continuously picked wickets at regular intervals. Alzarri Joseph has been the best with the ball, scalping 4 wickets and conceding just 16 runs in his spell.
As of now, the Nicholas Pooran-led West Indies team have to face Ireland in their upcoming fixture at the same venue where they defeated Zimbabwe. Alzarri Joseph was named Player of the Match for his fabulous spell with the ball and shared a few words in the post-match presentation.
"It is very encouraging but the job is not done. We have another game and have to win it to get to the main tournament. It is all about pulling it back for the team, trying to get an early wicket and if not keep it tight," Alzarri Joseph was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
"It (the yorker) took a lot of work but it all depends on the batter and how they move in the crease, for me it is about keeping the ball close to the batter. With the new ball, it (the conditions) was pretty good but it still was a good wicket for cricket. All in all happy with the performance and the team put in a big effort today," he added.
However, during the game, Akeal Hosein was left stunned after witnessing a 104-meter monstrous strike from Rovman Powell which landed outside the stadium. It was an enormous achievement for Rovman Powell as it's now easy to smash the ball outside this ground in Australia.
