NZ vs SA: Watch - Will Young takes a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Marco Jansen

 

The second Test match between New Zealand and South Africa is going on at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch in New Zealand. After winning the toss, the visiting side, South Africa opted to bat and posted a good total of 364 runs on the board.

Sarel Erwee was the top scorer for the Proteas in the first innings, having scored a fabulous hundred and returned to the dressing room with the numbers 108.

New Zealand in their first innings, has been decent with bat and almost reached the total posted by the opposition, having scored 293 runs.

Colin de Grandhomme remained unbeaten in the first innings for the Kiwis, as he scored 120 runs with the help of 12 boundaries and 3 sixes. In the second innings of South Africa, they had 71 runs lead but didn't get the expected start from the top-order batters.

Sarel Erwee, Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram couldn't make it to the big one and had to walk back to the pavilion with cheap numbers. After that, Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma played a few good shots and has been dismissed by Neil Wagner for 45 and 23 runs.

Then Kyle Verrynne took the charge by coming down the order and started to dominate the opposition bowlers all around the park. Wiaan Mulder and Kagiso Rabada also tried their best from the other end and scored 35 and 47 runs respectively.

In the end, South Africa once again cross the 350-mark and declared the innings after scoring 354 runs with the help of Verrynne's unbeaten 136. Defending the target of 426 runs, Kagiso Rabada removed both the openers Tom Latham and Will Young, as both the batters just played two balls.

Devon Conway come in at number three and played brilliantly throughout the day. However, Keshav Maharaj provided the breakthrough for South Africa by sending back Henry Nicholls and Daryl Mitchell for 7 and 24 runs.

Currently, Devon Conway and Tom Blundell are on the crease and will be looking as the Proteas bowlers will look to go through the opposition batting line-up to win the game. Besides, Will Young took a fantastic catch while running backwards at the mid-wicket region.
