IPL 2022: Watch - Suryakumar Yadav pulls off a stunning one-hander at the boundary on a no-ball

Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders have locked horns with the Rohit-led Mumbai Indians for the first in this edition of the Indian Premier League. Winning the toss, the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders, Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings for Mumbai Indians but Umesh Yadav and Rasikh Salam kept the first few overs very tight as both the batters didn't get any boundary against them.

However, Dewald Brevis came in after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma and scored 29 runs for his team. Then Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma fought hard in the middle and rebuild the innings for Mumbai Indians as Kieron Pollard finished the first half in style.

In the end, Mumbai Indians posted a quite challenging total of 161 runs on the board. Chasing the target posted by the opposition, Kolkata Knight Riders opened the innings with Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer but didn't get the start that they expected in this game as well.

The left-handed batsman Venkatesh Iyer has seen struggling in this match as well, remaining unbeaten on 50 runs facing 41 balls. The middle-order of Kolkata Knight Riders has been collapsed but Pat Cummins changed the fortunes for his franchise and smashed the joint-fastest fifty with KL Rahul in just 14 balls.

In the end, his fiery knock of 56 off 16 balls which includes 4 fours and 6 sixes helped KKR to beat Mumbai Indians with 5 wickets in hand. After that, Andre Russell did an epic celebration for Pat Cummins who won the game for their side.

Never expected him to come and play like that: Rohit Sharma

However, after losing the match, Rohit Sharma did not look good in the post-match presentation as he said, "Never expected him to come and play like that [on Cummins]. Lot of credit. The pitch got better and better to bat as the game went on.

It was holding up initially. Overall it was a good pitch. With the bat, we did not start well, in the last 4-5 overs to get 70+ was a great effort from the batting unit. We did not bowl according to the plan.

We had the game till the 15th over, but then Cummins was brilliant. Never expected him to come and play like that [on Cummins]. Lot of credit. The pitch got better and better to bat as the game went on. It was holding up initially. Overall it was a good pitch.

"Whenever you have runs on the board, we always have the upper hand, We had them 5-down, it was just a matter of the wicket of Venky or Pat, they had Sunil who could smash them. This will be hard to digest, the way it turned out in the last few overs.

We have a lot of hard work ahead of us. I don't want to be in this position all the time. Whenever you have runs on the board, we always have the upper hand, We had them 5-down, it was just a matter of the wicket of Venky or Pat, they had Sunil who could smash them.
