IPL 2022: Watch - Andre Russell surprises the umpire with his powerful shot down the ground

 

Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders have competed with Mayank Agarwal's Punjab Kings on the 1st of April, Friday. Talking about the match, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to take the field. 

Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings for their side, as Umesh Yadav removed the opposition in the first over of the game for 1 run. But Bhanuka Rajapaksa showed his fearless attitude and took on the opposition bowlers in the powerplay overs.

He scored a fiery 31 off just 9 balls that included 3 fours and three sixes and has been removed by Shivam Mavi. Then Tim Southee provided another breakthrough by sending back Shikhar Dhawan for 16 runs.

After his dismissal, Umesh Yadav once again strikes for his team and removed the dangerous English batter, Liam Livingstone, for 19 runs. Their lower-order didn't perform up to the expectations and lost 8 wickets for just 102 runs.

Umesh Yadav shined with the ball, picking up 4 wickets and giving away only 23 runs in his spell. At the end of the first half, the right-arm pacer got the purple cap and said, "Feels very happy and lively.

Coming back after a long time and doing well feels sweet. To do things that you wish for, it's a great feeling. My job is to do well in the powerplay and take wickets," Umesh Yadav was quoted as same as in Cricbuzz.

"If I do that, it benefits the team. I think it's a chaseable score. Our first game here had a slightly sticky surface but it's played better today and we shouldn't have many hiccups chasing the score down," he added.

Chasing the total, Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer opened the innings as usual and returned to the dressing room after being dismissed for 12 and 3 runs. After that, Shreyas Iyer has been dismissed by Rahul Chahar for 26 runs.

In the same over, the right-arm leggie also sent back Nitish Rana for a duck. However, Andre Russell once again proved why he is recognised as one of the dangerous batters, especially in the shortest format of the game.

He smashed 70 off just 31 deliveries with the help of 8 sixes and two fours and made his side top the league table with 2 wins from three games. During the chase, Andre Russell smashed the ball with his brutal power that almost took off the heads of Arshdeep Singh and the on-field umpire.
