IPL 2022, RR vs RCB: Watch - Devdutt Padikkal reminds of Yuvraj Singh by flicking Mohammed Siraj for a six

 

This is the 13th match of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League where Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals taking on Faf du Plessis' Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Winning the toss, Faf du Plessis asked the opposition to bat. As usual, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings for Rajasthan Royals as David Willey provided the early breakthrough by sending back the left-hander for just 4 runs.

After his dismissal, Devdutt Padikkal joined with the English wicket-keeper batter and added a crucial partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket. This time, the trump card of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Harshal Patel provided the breakthrough by sending back the well-settled Padikkal for 37 runs.

Then the skipper of the side, Sanju Samson who was looked well in the first two games couldn't score big in this game and walked back to the dressing after being dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga for 8 runs.

In the last few overs, Shimron Hetmyer joined his hands with Jos Buttler and proved his worth by dominating the opposition bowlers all around the park. Both the batters added 83 runs for the third wicket partnership and remained unbeaten on 70 and 42 runs respectively.

With the help of those, Rajasthan Royals posted a quite challenging total of 169 runs. Jos Buttler has received the orange cap at the end of the first half and said, "The surface feels a little bit soft. The slower balls and Hasaranga with his googly was slow off the wicket.

We'll have to see if it changes with the dew. It was frustrating, but sometimes you have to suck it up and keep going. (On the dew) We're definitely in the game, but a lot will depend on the conditions. I'll still back my bowlers to defend it," Jos Buttler was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Chasing the target, the skipper Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat opened the innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore and dominated the opposition bowlers on their own.

As of now, both the batters added 48 runs for the opening wicket as Faf du Plessis is batting on 24 and Anuj Rawat is continuing on 22. Besides, during the first half, Devdutt Padikkal smashed Mohammed Siraj for a fantastic six which was like Yuvraj Singh who often uses the flick over the square region.
