IPL 2022, PBKS vs DC: Watch - Comedy of errors in the middle as Delhi Capitals missed an easy run-out

Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals came in front of each other in an important game on the road to the playoffs. Coming to that game, the skipper of Punjab Kings, Mayank Agarwal won the toss and opted to take the field.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals posted a decent total, scoring just 159 runs on the board. Mitchell Marsh has played very well throughout the innings for Delhi Capitals and scored 63 runs for his team.

Chasing the total, Punjab Kings got a good start from their openers but the middle-order batters didn't perform up to the expectations of the fans. Jitesh Sharma was the lone warrior in the middle as he tried his best, scoring 44 runs and taking the game to the end.

However, Delhi Capitals' bowlers bowled exceptionally well as they won the game by a margin of 17 runs. With 7 wins in their bag, Delhi Capitals are placed in the 4th spot on the points table.

We were trying to hit good areas: Shardul Thakur

IPL 2022 - Shardul Thakur - David Warner - DC

Shardul Thakur was the Man of the Match as he scalped 4 wickets for his team. All the four wickets are crucial ones which turned the game upside down for Punjab Kings.

"I always like to perform in crunch times, the last two games were important and I always feel happy when I rise to the right occasion.

6th over was a big over where I got two wickets, they were cruising and in both innings, fast bowlers were going for runs in the powerplay and as soon as the powerplay ended, the runs stopped," Shardul Thakur was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz in the post-match presentation.

"The spinners came in and did a good job. As a bowling unit we were trying to hit good areas, but after 12th over there was dew which is why we did not bowl Kuldeep Yadav.

I'm preparing well and whenever I got the chance, trying to put some score and hoping I will continue my run with the bat," said Thakur.

However, during the game, Delhi Capitals missed an easy chance to run-out Shikhar Dhawan. The left-handed batter tried to get a single and Bhanuka Rajapaksha refused. Both the batters were at the same end but Lalit Yadav mistakenly threw the ball somewhere.
