IND vs WI: Watch - Rohit Sharma takes a stunning catch to dismiss Odean Smith

Rohit Sharma and his men have whitewashed the visiting side West Indies in the three-match ODI series that played recently. Currently, the Men in Maroon were once again up against the hosts in the first T20I that was held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 16th February, Wednesday.

After winning the toss, the skipper of the Indian cricket team Rohit Sharma asked the opposition to bat first. Brandon King and Kyle Mayers opened the innings for West Indies as Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided the breakthrough in the very first over and removed the right-hander for 4 runs.

However, Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran played well in the powerplay overs and added 47 runs for the second wicket partnership. Yuzvendra Chahal scalped the wicket of Kyle Mayers who was looking good on 31.

Roston Chase and Rovman Powell didn't have a good time in the middle as both the batters has been dismissed by the debutant Ravi Bishnoi for 4 and 2 runs. Harshal Patel got the wicket of well-settled Nicholas Pooran who has smashed 5 sixes and 4 fours to get 61 runs for his team.

Summary of the 1st T20I between India and West Indies:

Ishan Kishan

In the end, Kieron Pollard played a decent cameo of 24 off 19 balls and helped his side to post 157 runs on the board. Following the total posted by the opposition, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings for India and gave a flying start that fans expected from them.

Both the openers straightaway went on the bowlers and smashed them all around the park. As most of the fans know that Eden Gardens is Rohit Sharma's favourite ground, the right-hander didn't show any mercy to the opposition bowlers and Ishan Kishan assisted him well from the other end.

They added 64 runs for the opening wicket partnership before both the batters got dismissed for 40 and 35 runs respectively. Virat Kohli's poor form with the bat continues as he once again warmed the bench after scoring just 17 runs for his team.

Rishabh Pant also failed to contribute with the bat and has been dismissed by Sheldon Cottrell for 8 runs. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer showed their skills in the middle-order and scored an unbeaten 34 and 24 which helped their side to defeat the visiting team by 6 wickets.
