India and Sri Lanka have competed with each other in the first T20I match of the three-match series that took place on 24th February, Thursday. Having a quick look at the match, Sri Lanka asked the hosts to bat after winning the toss.

India posted a well challenging total of 199 runs with the help of Rohit Sharma's 44, Ishan Kishan's 89 and Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 57 runs. With a huge target on the board, Sri Lanka didn't get the start that they expected from their top-order batters.

Charith Asalana was the top scorer for Sri Lanka who remained unbeaten on 53 runs along with Dushmantha Chameera's 24 runs. In the end, India beat Sri Lanka by 62 runs and took the lead in the series by 1-0.

Besides, during the match, Shreyas Iyer dropped the catch of Charith Asalanka as Yuzvendra Chahal and Rohit Sharma was left unhappy with his poor fielding.

I know Ishan for a long time now, says Rohit Sharma

Ishan Kishan

After winning the match against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma shared a few things in the post-match presentation and said, "I know Ishan for a long time now. I know the mindset he has. I know the ability he has as well. It was just about getting the kind of game that he had today.

It was so pleasing to watch from the other end. The way he constructed the innings was so good, that is usually a challenge for him. We were talking in the middle about finding gaps," Rohit Sharma was quoted by Cricbuzz.

Moreover, Rohit Sharma wants Ravindra Jadeja to bat up the order on which he claimed, "Very happy with Jadeja's return. We want more from him that is why we asked him to bat higher.

You will see that happening more and more in the games that he plays for India. I want him to bat up the order more. He is a very improved batter, so we will try and see if we can promote him going forward."

"In Kolkata, you just needed to time the ball. It's consistently happening. We are dropping easy catches. Our fielding coach has some work to do. Come Australia, we want to be a great fielding side," he added.
