IND vs SL: Watch - Rohit Sharma asks Virat Kohli to re-enter as his team gives him guard of honour

Rohit Sharma and his men are in the action in the opening Test against the visiting side, Sri Lanka who have recently lost the three-match T20I series against the hosts. Talking about the match, Team India won the toss and asked the opposition to take the field. 

The skipper of the side, Rohit Sharma opened the innings along with Mayank Agarwal in the absence of his regular partner KL Rahul. Both the openers added 52 runs for the first wicket partnership.

After that, Lasith Embuldeniya picked up his first wicket of the game by removing Mayank Agarwal for 33 runs. Then Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli played well in the middle and added 90 runs for the third wicket partnership before Lasith Embumdeniya sends back Virat Kohli for 45 runs in his 100th Test match. 

Hanuma Vihari followed after scoring was cleaned by Vishwa Fernando for 58 runs. Shreyas Iyer who looked well in the recently concluded T20 series against Sri Lanka has failed to contribute in this match. He scored 27 runs before being dismissed by Dhananjaya de Silva.

Ravichandran Ashwin gives the first breakthrough for India:

After the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant took the charge in the lower-order and stitched a beautiful partnership for the sixth wicket and added 104 runs for it.

Unfortunately, Rishabh Pant missed his hundred by just 4 runs and walked back to the dressing room after scoring 96 runs for his team, as Suranga Lakmal went through the stumps of the left-hander.

Then Ravindran Ashwin joined the action with Ravindra Jadeja who was batting well on the other end. Both the batters fought well at the end of the day and kept their wickets in hold ahead of the next day.

On the second day of the game, both the batters stood well on their ends and added 130 runs for the seventh wicket partnership before Ravichandran Ashiwn has been dismissed by Suranga Lakmal for 61 runs.

However, Ravindra Jadeja smashed a fabulous hundred that followed by his maiden 150 as well. Rohit Sharma declared the innings when India was on 574 runs and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 175 runs along with Mohammed Shami who was batting on 20 runs.

Following the total posted by India, the skipper Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne opened the innings and gave a decent start for their side. Ravichandran Ashwin picked the first wicket for India by removing Lahiru Thirimanne for 17 runs. 

On the other side, Ravindra Jadeja who had a fabulous time with the bat has scalped his first wicket in the very first he bowled, removing the opposition skipper for 28 runs. Besides, when coming out to the field, Rohit Sharma asked Virat Kohli to come again as the whole team gave him the guard of honour ahead of his 100th Test.
