IND vs SL: Watch - Rishabh Pant smashes a fabulous one-handed six off Dhananjaya de Silva


The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka has kickoff today at the PCA stadium and eventually, it is the 100th Test for the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli as well. Having a look at the match, the skipper of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat.

He opened the innings with Mayank Agarwal, as both the openers added 52 runs for the first wicket partnership. However, Lahiru Kumara provided the first breakthrough for Sri Lanka by removing Rohit Sharma for 29 runs. After that, Lasith Embuldeniya picked up his first wicket of the game by removing Mayank Agarwal for 33 runs.

Then Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli played well in the middle and added 90 runs for the third wicket partnership before Lasith Embumdeniya sends back Virat Kohli for 45 runs in his 100th Test match. Hanuma Vihari followed after scoring was cleaned by Vishwa Fernando for 58 runs.

Shreyas Iyer who looked well in the recently concluded T20 series against Sri Lanka has failed to contribute in this match. He scored 27 runs before being dismissed by Dhananjaya de Silva.

After the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant took the charge in the lower-order and stitched a beautiful partnership for the sixth wicket and added 104 runs for it.

Unfortunately, Rishabh Pant missed his hundred by just 4 runs and walked back to the dressing room after scoring 96 runs for his team, as Suranga Lakmal went through the stumps of the left-hander.

Then Ravindran Ashwin joined the action with Ravindra Jadeja who was batting well on the other end. Both the batters fought well at the end of the day and kept their wickets in hold ahead of the next day. 

At the end of Day 1, India was 357 losing 6 wickets as Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been unbeaten on 45 and 10 runs respectively. During the game, Rishabh Pant smashed an extraordinary one-handed off Dhananjaya de Silva, which he often, especially in the shortest format of the game.
