IND vs SA: Watch - Rohit Sharma laughs off after Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli forced him to waste a review

Rohit Sharma-led Indian team went on to clash with South Africa in the 1st T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on 28th September, Wednesday. Talking about the game, Rohit Sharma elected to field after winning the toss.

After being asked to bat first by the hosts, the South African top-order has been dominated by Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar, sending back four of their batters for a duck.

After struggling a lot, the visiting side managed to make 106 runs with the help of Keshav Maharaj's 41 runs. Chasing the target, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje removed both the Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for cheap numbers.

However, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav set the platform for the side and chased down the total within 17 overs of the game. Both the batters remained unbeaten throughout the innings, scoring 51 and 50 runs respectively.

Suryakumar Yadav - Ind vs Sa

Winning the opening game of the series, Rohit Sharma shared a quite lot in the post-match presentation about their performance and the things they learnt in this battle against South Africa.

"The wicket was tricky. You learn a lot playing such a game. You understand what the team needs to do in tough conditions. It was nice to play a game like that.

We knew the bowlers will get something seeing grass on the pitch, but we didn't expected help for the full 20 overs. It was still damp. Both teams were in the contest and the team that played better won the game," Rohit Sharma was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"We started well, got 5 wickets in quick time and that was the turning point. Perfect showcase of how to bowl when there is help for the pacers (talking about Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh).

We knew it wasn't going to be easy. Got to respect the conditions. Lost two wickets and that partnership between KL (Rahul) and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) got us home," he added.

However, during the game, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli forced their skipper, Rohit Sharma to take DRS off Keshav Maharaj. But there was nothing seen in the DRS as India's first review went in vain.
