IND vs AUS: Watch - Glenn Maxwell walks back disappointed after being run-out in an unusual way by Axar Patel's bullet throw
India and Australia locked horns in the third and final match of the 3-match series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, 25th September. Coming to the game, Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the visitors to bat.
Batting first, Australia got a fiery start from Cameron Green who smashed 52 runs off 21 balls with the help of 7 fours and three sixes. In the end, Tim David took the responsibility and helped his side to post a competitive total of 186 runs on the board. Chasing the target, India lost KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma within the powerplay overs.
However, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli steadied the drowning ship by putting up a 104-run stand for the third wicket before Suryakumar Yadav returned to the dressing after scoring an entertaining knock of 69 runs from 36 balls.
But Virat Kohli took the game with Hardik Pandya, as the Baroda all-rounder once again finished the game and helped India to seal the 3-match T20I series against Australia.
The way we fought back was fantastic: Aaron Finch
After losing the game against India, the Australian skipper, Aaron Finch applauded his side for their fight back in the post-match presentation. "Really good series. The way we fought back was fantastic. Really with a young player like Green have such an impact. We had to get wickets, can't beat India by containing.
At times we were sloppy with bat and ball, but playing a tight series like this against a World Class side is going to keep the guys in good stead. I loved the way he took the game on with his ultra-aggressive approach," Aaron Finch was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
During the game, Glenn Maxwell was run-out in an unusual way as Axar Patel made a bullet throw which made a direct hit on the stumps. However, before his throw dislodged the bails, Dinesh Karthik's gloves had made contact with the stump.
But the TV umpire watched carefully as the throw produced by Axar Patel which was hitting the middle and leg dislodged the other bails and with that, the umpire made his decision and gave out for Glenn Maxwell.
