BAN vs IND, 1st Test Live: Watch - Virat Kohli got saved from brutal insults by Rishabh Pant, grabbing a sharp one behind the stumps

 

The Indian cricket team is having a good time in the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh. KL Rahul, the skipper of India won the toss and opted to bat.

The Karnataka-born batsman opened with Shubman Gill and gave a decent start to the side. Shubman Gill was removed by Taijul Islam when he was on 20 runs. Following him, Khaled Ahmed took the wicket of the Indian skipper, KL Rahul, for 22 runs.

After that, Taijul Islam removed the Indian stalwart Virat Kohli for just one run. However, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant put up a 64-run stand for the fourth wicket before Rishabh Pant was cleaned by Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 46 runs.

Despite losing wickets, Cheteshwar Pujara was looking well with bat and put up an important 149 runs partnership for the fifth wicket, helping his side come back into the game. Taijul Islam provided a much-needed breakthrough for Bangladesh by sending back one of the greatest players of this format, Cheteshwar Pujara for 90 runs.

Axar Patel played a few shots and returned to the dressing room, scoring 14 runs. Shreyas Iyer who got three chances on the 1st day has been cleaned up by Ebadot Hossain while he was batting on 86 runs.

Unexpectedly, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav come up with a 92-run stand for the eighth wicket before Mehidy Hasan Miraz got the wicket of the off-spinner who added 48 runs for his side.

Cheteshwar Pujara - India vs Bangladesh

Taijul Islam get rid of Kuldeep Yadav as he slammed important 40 runs and hence, India posted a huge total of 404 runs on the board. Both Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scaled 4 wickets each.

Following the total, Bangladesh struggled to score runs against the Indian bowlers as they have been bowled out for 150 runs. Kuldeep Yadav has made his comeback in the longest format as he scalped 5 wickets for his side.

With a lead of 254 runs, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill opened the innings for India as the Indian skipper once again failed to convert his start into a big score. KL Rahul had to depart after scoring 23 runs.

However, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara batted well against the opposition bowlers, putting up a much-needed 113 runs for the second wicket. Shubman Gill scored his maiden century in the longest format whereas Cheteshwar Pujara completed his drought of hundred by smashing his career-best fastest hundred in 130 balls.

After that, KL Rahul called his men and declared the innings by setting up a target of 513 runs for the hosts. Chasing the target, Bangladesh got the expected start from their openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan as both the batters added 124 runs for the opening wicket.

However, Umesh Yadav provided the first breakthrough for India by sending back Najmul Hossain Shanto for 67 runs. After his dismissal, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav got the wickets of Yasir Ali and Litton Das for cheap scores. Besides, during the game, Rishabh Pant grabbed a fantastic catch that came from Virat Kohli's hands.
