Rohit Sharma-led Indian team went on to compete with Sri Lanka in the Group Four round at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Talking about the game, the skipper of Sri Lanka won the toss and ordered the Indian side to bat.

Batting first, Team India posted a challenging total of 173 runs on the board. They suffered a huge blow when the Sri Lankan bowlers removed both KL Rahul and Viral Kohli in back-to-back overs.

However, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav put up a crucial 97-run stand for the 3rd wicket before the skipper walks back to the dressing room after scoring 72 runs.

The middle and lower-order batters failed to contribute with the bat and managed to surpass over the 170s. Chasing the target, both the Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis gave a flying start and added 97 runs for the opening wicket partnership.

The right-arm leggie Yuzvendra Chahal made India come back into the game by removing the top-order batters of the opposition. However, Bhanuka Rajapaksha and Dasun Skanaka finished the game for their side and made them qualify for the finals.

After the game, the skipper of Sri Lanka, Dasun Shanaka shared a few words about their performance in the post-match presentation. "The environment in the team set the tone. It is what gave us the confidence. The batting unit won it for us.

The bowlers bowled well in patches, Dilshan and Theekshana in particular. The Indian batsmen came hard, but we did well to keep them to 173," said Dasun Shanaka in the post-match presentation.

"We had a good discussion after the first game. We know what we can do in this tournament. Pathum and Mendis set the tone for us, and then Rajapaksa and me finished it off.

Due to the team combination, Chamika bowls four overs for us, and that is why I don't have to bowl my full quota of overs. I just have to take decisions on the basis of what the team needs," he added.

During the final over bowled by Arshdeep Singh, Sri Lanka needed 2 off 2 balls where Rishabh Pant threw the ball and misses the stumps. Arshdeep Singh collected the ball and also made an unwanted throw which made them lose the game.
