AUS vs WI: Watch - Kyle Mayers smashes Cameron Green for a stunning 105-meter six during the 1st T20I

West Indies went on to clash with Australia in the 1st T20I at the Carrara Oval in Queensland on 5th October, Wednesday. Having a look at the game, Aaron Finch, the skipper of Australia won the toss and invited the visitors to bat.

Batting first, West Indies posted a decent total of 145 runs on the board. Kyle Mayers was the highest scorer for the Men in Maroon who added 39 runs with the help of 5 fours and a six.

Odean Smith tried his best with the bat by coming down the order and smashed 27 runs before being run out by Matthew Wade. Chasing the target, the Australian batters struggled to score runs against the opposition bowlers except the skipper Aaron Finch.

The veteran batter stood firm on one end and added 58 runs by smashing 6 boundaries despite losing 5 wickets for just 60 runs. In the end, Matthew Wade took charge and finished the game for his side as he remained unbeaten on 39 off 29 balls.

We were lucky to get across the line: Aaron Finch

Winning the opening encounter of the series, Aaron Finch received the Player of the Match award for his prolific show with the bat and shared a few words in the post-match presentation.

"Both teams if they are honest, were sloppy. We were lucky to get across the line. We knew (the pitch) it will be a challenge at the halfway mark. Wadey again a cool head at the end.

We had to suck up a little bit of pressure, I wanted to target the short boundary but got out, nice to get a couple though," Aaron Finch was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"I did not like the first one hitting on the head (on his first ball he faced from Joseph). Really liked batting in the middle-order, something different.

We probably would swap it around in the next game (on the opening combination). We gonna keep tinkering with things so that we got all bases covered going into the World Cup," the Australian skipper added.

However, during the West Indies inning, Kyle Mayers who opened the innings for the side smashed an eye-catching shot off Cameron Green which went off for a six. Fans started to share the video on social media platforms.
