Indian skipper Virat Kohli had a special wish for his teammate MS Dhoni for his commitment for the team.
India have ended their long tour of Australia on a high note as they won the decider and third game of the ODI series by three wickets. MS Dhoni, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kedar Jadhav were the key players for the win at Melbourne Cricket Ground for India.’
MS Dhoni is the hot topic after the series as the former captain scored hattrick fifties in the ODI series and looked like a come back from the man after his bad form in 2018. His great rhythm with the bat will be a good sign for India in their World Cup preparations.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli also had a special word for the former and World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni, quoting as the most committed member in the squad for the Indian Cricket team.
“As a team we’re very happy for MS. We’re happy that he’s amongst the runs because it’s very important to get runs under your belt to get that rhythm and get that confidence back, especially when you’re not playing so much international cricket.
From that point of view, I think it’s a great thing for the team that he’s come here and scored in all three games, and we feel that he will definitely build on this performance and this series from here on in New Zealand and back home as well. He’ll feel pretty confident about his rhythm as a batsman, and every batsman needs that whether it’s a club game or an international game, you need runs next to your name to gain confidence.”
Further, the Indian skipper appreciated the great effort from the leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who registered his career best figure with a six-wicket haul at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“Credit has to go to him because the way he bowled in his first game of the tour is absolutely outstanding – to take six wickets at the MCG is no small feat for a spinner and I’m really happy for him. He’s a very intelligent bowler and he gets us those breakthroughs.
He and Kuldeep together are definitely a force to reckon with. When they play together, it’s our most potent spin-bowling attack that we’ve experienced in the past. But just to strike the balance within the team, Kuldeep had to make way for Chahal this game.”
