New Zealand spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner has returned to the national ODI side for the first three ODIs against India.
India have successfully completed their long tour of Australia which lasted for nearly two months with a victory in the decider of the ODI series at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Their next assignment will be against New Zealand for another away fixture of limited over formats only.
New Zealand have just finished a short home series against Sri Lanka with the series win in all three formats of the game. Now Kiwis are all set to host India for five One-Day Internationals and three T20I games.
Ahead of the ODI series, New Zealand have announced their squad for the first three games of the first three games of the five-match series.
Interstingly their spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner has returned to the national ODI side after sitting out back for more than nine months due to injury. Along with Mitchell Santner, Tom Latham is also back into the side after missing out the series against Sri Lanka.
Colin de Grandhomme has also found a place in the side for the first three ODIs as James Neesham has been ruled out for the fixtures due to the injury he sustained during the series against Sri Lanka.
Speaking about the squad, head coach Gary Stead said, “Our two main priorities have been to select and prepare a squad capable of winning what is shaping as a massive series against India, and gathering as much information as possible ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales.
“Tom and Colin are experienced players in this format and will offer quality in their respective roles, and Mitch and Doug showed us what they are capable of during the T20 on Friday night.”
