Gautam Gambhir who is making the headlines for all the controversial reasons and some interesting opinions has once again chipped in with his own view about Indian team vice-captain Rohit Sharma.

According to Gambhir, Rohit is not just a great batsman for India but has also shown incredible leadership traits as well.

Rohit Sharma helped Mumbai Indians steer the fourth IPL title which is the most by any team in IPL history.

It is not just IPL that Rohit Sharma has been very good at showcasing leadership qualities as he has had an impressive record as Indian captain in T20Is and ODIs.

When a question was thrown to Gambhir about Rohit captaining India in the future, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir said, “I think he is probably right up there. He has won four IPL trophies and if you talk about IPL cricket, he is the most successful captain. He captained the team in Asia Cup and won it so not only as an option he is probably next to Virat Kohli.”

Virat Kohli skippered the Indian side in 65 matches and managed to win 49 out of them with a winning percentage of 77.98. On the contrary, Rohit led the Men in Blue to 8 wins out of 10 ODIs since the year 2017 with a staggering win percentage of 80, which goes to show that he is a clear-cut captaincy material.

In fact, he has also led Team India to the Asia Cup 2018 in Virat Kohli’s absence. Interestingly, like Rohit, Kohli too recorded 8 wins in the first 10 matches as ODI skipper.

As far as T20Is are concerned, Virat Kohli’s record fall short of Rohit’s. He steered India in 22 matches in the T20 format with the team winning just 12 matches only. But under Rohit’s captaincy, India won 12 in 15 matches. In Kohli’s absence, Rohit captained the Indian side to a victory in the Nidahas trophy in Sri Lanka.
