West Indies choose Shai Hope as replacement for injured Jeremy Solozano in Galle

West Indies have selected Shai Hope as a concussion replacement for debutant Jeremy Solozano, who will have no further role in this test. The substitute was confirmed after approval by the match referee Ranjan Madugalle.

The West Indies had to bring Hope after Solozano was injured on Day 1 after being struck in the helmet grill by a Dimuth Karunaratne pull shot while stepping on the front short leg on the first day in Galle. Solozano remained unmoved for a few moments and had to be carried off the field and was soon hospitalized. The update from the evening on Day 1 was that the scans showed that there was "no structural damage" but he needed to be kept under surveillance.

Solozano will have no further role in this test as the substitution process has been approved by match referee Ranjan Madugalle.

“Jeremy Solozano suffered a concussion. He will return to the team hotel today and follow the appropriate protocol. Shai Hope will replace Solozano in the ongoing #MenInMaroon #SLvWI friendly, ”said the Cricket West Indies (CWI) statement.
