Virat Kohli's emotional message to the fans after the last game as India T20I Captain
Following India's elimination from the ongoing T20 World Cup, captain Virat Kohli used social media to thank fans for their support and also announced that the team is "disappointed" with their recent appearances. India beat Namibia in their last Super 12 game in Dubai on Monday but failed to make it to the semi-finals after New Zealand's victory over Afghanistan on Sunday. The 33-year-old posted pictures from the tournament on social media and wrote: “Together we set out to achieve our goal. Unfortunately we came up short and nobody is more disappointed than us as a team. "
He thanked everyone for their support and continued, “The support from all of you has been fantastic and we are grateful for everything. We'll come back stronger and do our best. Jai Hind. "
The win against Namibia was also Kohli's last game as India's T20I captain. He will remain on the team as ODI and test captain. India finished third in Group 2, behind Pakistan and New Zealand. The teams that have qualified for the semi-finals are Pakistan, New Zealand, England and Australia.
On Monday, India defeated Namibia with nine wickets. India had a target of 133 runs and hit 136 for one of 15.2 overs, with KL Rahul crushing an unbeaten stroke of 54 runs with 36 balls. Opener Rohit Sharma also scored half a century with a stroke of 56 out of 37 balls.
Previously, Namibia had scored 132 for eight in 20 overs, with David Wiese scoring the top score for the team with 26 out of 25 deliveries. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin were in great shape, each taking three wickets for India.
