Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Miss the home T20 series against West Indies T20Is

Veteran thugs Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik will skip the T20 home series against the West Indies next month, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) source said.

Hafeez and Malik have both told Pakistani team captain Babar Azam and head coach Saqlain Mushtaq that they will not be available for the series due to personal commitments.

Both players also skipped the most recent T20 series in Bangladesh after the World Cup, which Pakistan won 3-0.

"Malik has said that he wants to focus on playing in T20 leagues and Pakistani selections should only consider him for selections on selected and important series," said a reliable PCB source.

On the flip side, he said Hafeez said he was skipping the West Indies series as he was busy with the Lankan Premier League and the selection should give some young players a chance.

Hafeez also skipped the series in Bangladesh.

"Basically it was decided to pay more attention now to players like Haider Ali, Sohaib Maqsood, Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Danish Aziz, Azam Khan to prepare them for the future instead of waiting for Hafeez and Malik," the source added .

On the other hand, star pacer Hasan Ali is also getting rested for the West Indies series.

It is important to remember that from December 13-22, Pakistan will host the West Indies in Karachi for three T20Is and three ODIs.
