Jofra Archer might miss the T20I series against India

The England fast bowler, Jofra Archer might miss the upcoming T20I series against India. He missed the fourth and final Test against the hosts due to an elbow injury.

He injured his elbow during the Cape Town Test against South Africa in 2020. Since his elbow starts hurting him, he has to miss the upcoming series which starts on March 12.

Earlier in 2020, he suffered from a stress fracture. But, the head coach of England, Chris Silverwood said that Archer won't be undergoing surgery at the moment.

Silverwood also said that the decision of Archer participating in the T20I series will be taken after monitoring him during the practice sessions.

“Jofra’s elbow did flare up a little bit and the medical staff are managing that at the moment. Obviously, we’ll monitor his progress. The medical staff are talking about how we deal with this long term.

“He’s trained today with the white-ball squad. We’ll be monitoring his situation,” Silverwood was quoted as saying in ESPNcricinfo.

“I’ll be guided by the medics. We’ll see where we end up with him. I want Jofra to be fit for all forms of cricket. I want him to have a long, successful Test career,” he stated.

The right-arm pacer had poor Test series against India. He could not trouble the Indians in the first Test and was rested for the second Test. In the third Test at Ahmedabad, he bowled just 5 overs and did not play the final game due to injury.

“Could we limit the number of overs he bowls? It’s not something I would go out and predict but we’ll find out in the course of time. The important thing for me at the moment is that Jofra gets every resource we can provide to make sure he does have a long and successful Test career,” Silverwood added.
