Chris Gayle opened his West Indies farewell game and also said he could watch the T20 World Cup next year as a spectator.

With the planned T20 World Cup for ICC men in Australia in 2022, the daring batter Chris Gayle made a big announcement as to whether he would be part of the flagship event for the West Indies. Gayle stated that he would be in Australia for the tournament but it might be as a spectator rather than a player. The 42-year-old also hinted that fans would likely never see him play for West Indies in international cricket again. When asked if he would be present at the tournament in Australia, Gayle's first response was hilarious when he made fun of the interviewer.

He quipped, "To do what? To dance?"

"I'll be in Australia either way, I'll be in Australia. Because I haven't been there for a while and the World Cup is going to be in Australia. So I'll be there. You know, it might take a little extra effort. Sit up the stands, take a cold and say hi guys, I'm here. I'm not going. So yeah, I'm looking forward to it, "he said.

Revealing his future plans, he continued, "It is doubtful that you will see me play for West Indies again in international cricket."

Gayle also mentioned his farewell game, saying it could be against Ireland.

“We have something planned against Ireland. I'm just waiting for the board to close things. And as soon as we see an appointment, we'd find out what happened. It should be at home in Jamaica, Sabina Park. I'm looking forward to it, "he said.
