India vs England: Rahul Tewatia fails to clear the fitness test ahead of the T20I series

Getting a maiden call-up from the national side is a dream for many players on the cricket field. But players often lose their chance in the fitness test conducted by the BCCI. Coming to the point, few players from the Indian Premier League got the maiden call-up ahead of India vs England T20I series which is going to conclude from 12th March.

Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Tewatia were those players who have been selected for the upcoming T20 series. However, things have not been the same for Rahul Tewatia and Varun Chakravarthy as they failed to live up to the mark of the fitness test expected by the national selectors.

Rahul Tewatia had a great time in the 13th edition of the cash-rich contest where he scored 255 runs that he played at an average of around 43 and plucked 10 wickets with the ball as well.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, the mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy proved to be one of the best with the ball as he scalped 17 wickets from his 13 outings including a fifer to his name. Still, in Yo-Yo Test, a player should score at least 17.1 or have to cover 2km in the allotted time of 8.3 minutes which conducted by the national selectors.

Everyone from the Indian squad should have performed up to the mark of BCCI's new parameter of fitness levels. Besides, a source has stated that “It has been introduced to push fitness standards and maintain endurance. He will get more than one chance,” which means they might get another attempt to clear the fitness test ahead of the T20 series. So, both the players who came up from a long tourney have to be at their best to clear the obstacles to get included in the squad.
