"I was never told I should not leave T20 captaincy" - Virat Kohli

 

The skipper of the Indian test team Virat Kohli has answered a lot of rumours that spreading on social media platforms. In that case, he also revealed his availability ahead of the ODI series against South Africa.

A plethora of sources claimed that Virat Kohli is not available for the ODI series against South Africa as he was planning to celebrate his daughters birthday, Vamika.

On 15th December, Wednesday, in a virtual press conference, Virat Kohli said, "I am available for selection in the ODIs. You should honestly ask these questions to the sources who are writing all this. There were certain things that came out in the past which said that I was attending events but there is nothing like that and those are not credible."

"I was and I am available for selection. I haven’t had any communication with BCCI where I have asked for any break. I am available for selection for ODIs in South Africa. People are writing lies. I have never asked for rest," Kohli added.

Virat Kohli who stated that he will step down from the leadership after the T20 World Cup 2021 has now shared a few things in the virtual press conference.

Before talking about that, Mufaddal Vohra posted a tweet on Twitter and wrote "Sourav Ganguly - I personally requested Virat Kohli to not step down from T20I captaincy. Virat Kohli - I wasn’t told to not leave the T20I captaincy. - Very poor from the BCCI and the president."


Moreover, the Board of Control for Cricket in India posted a tweet and announced that Rohit Sharma will handle the captaincy in the limited-overs format.

Notably, a personality with the name of KSR on the Twitter handle has tweeted that, "Virat Kohli in PC on Dec 15: There was no prior communication (from BCCI). I was called up 90 mins before Dec 8 selection meeting. Selectors said they didn’t want split captaincy. I was never told I should not leave T20 captaincy."
