"I think it’s the individual who has to be asked where he got the impression" - Sunil Gavaskar

The skipper of the Indian Test team has once again grabbed the headlines after being sacked from the leadership in the One-day format. Virat Kohli has been one of the best captains in the history of cricket and his records speak for themselves.

However, the former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has shared a few things after the 33-year-old claimed lack of communication with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Virat Kohli has interacted with the media just before leaving for the South Africa series and shared a lot of things in the live interaction. During the interaction, the Test skipper claimed that BCCI never approached him to not leave the T20I captaincy and One-day captaincy.

His comments burst out among the fans on the social media platform as they have been split into two groups by the side of Virat Kohli and the BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly.

He should be asked why there is this discrepancy: Sunil Gavaskar

One of the legends of Indian cricket, Sunil Gavaskar has opened up on the issue of lack of communication between Virat Kohli and the BCCI. "I think it (Kohli’s comments) actually doesn’t bring the BCCI into the picture. I think it’s the individual who has to be asked where he got the impression he had conveyed such a message to Kohli. So that’s the only thing.

Yes, he is the BCCI president and surely he should be asked why there is this discrepancy. He is probably the best person to ask about the discrepancy in what you seem to have to say and what the Indian captain has said." Sunil Gavaskar told to Indian today.

"I think I also saw the release(by Kohli) because it was in public domain. I think you know the way it was put across, it might have upset the ones in power. If I remember correctly it said - I will continue to lead India in Test and ODIs," he added.

"Yes, it always helps to have a clear line of communication so that there is no speculation. So from now, from what has happened, there should be a clear line of communication, and the chairman of the selection committee can come down and say why he has been picked and why he has not been picked.

Sometimes, even if that is not needed, a press release is also good enough. A good press release giving all the reasons makes life a lot easier," he further added.
