"I must admit that they should be spoken of in the same breath when it comes to Indian cricket" - Dinesh Karthik

The Tamil Nadu born wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik opined that Ravichandran Ashwin has a lot of credits to be spoken likewise the great Kapil Dev. Ravichandran Ashwin who warmed the bench during the England series this year has made a strong comeback in the national team.

The right-arm off-spinner scalped 3 wickets in both innings and helped India to sit on the driver's seat. In addition to that, Ashwin has also smacked 38 and 32 runs in both innings he played which helped India to put up some runs on the board.

Despite doing so, the visitors managed to draw the match and will go-ahead for the 2nd Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Dinesh Karthik praised the right-handed all-rounder for his all-round show with both the bat and the ball.

Two best all-rounders to have come out of this soil for a long: Dinesh Karthik

During a discussion with the New Zealand commentator Simon Doull on Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik praised Ravichandran Ashwin and said, "Obviously, I don’t think I am in a place to judge both of them, but I must admit that they should be spoken of in the same breath when it comes to Indian cricket because both of them have been match-winners, have been exemplary, and have been definitely the two best all-rounders to have come out of this soil for a long, long time."

"You have to put him there (among India’s best all-rounders) with the number of Man of the Series he has won, the accolades he has got obviously.

Getting 417 wickets in 80 Tests is an unbelievable record to have and the fact that he’s contributed and scored five hundreds, much more than a lot of the batters who play for a longer period of time in Test matches. There are people who have played 30-35 Tests, and still haven’t managed five hundreds," he further added.
