CPL 2021: India's U19 World Cup winner Smit Patel bags a contract from Barbados Tridents for the 9th season of CPL

The 9th season of the Caribbean Premier League is all set to commence at the end of August. In the previous edition of the tournament, the Pollard-led Trinbago Knight Riders won the finals against St Lucia Zouks by chasing down the target of 155 runs posted by them. Moreover, it was their 4th title of the tournament and will look to defend in the upcoming season as well.

The four-time champions will be entering into the tournament with the services of some big stars like their experienced skipper Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Lendl Simmons and a few more on the cards. Besides, we are here to know that an Indian wicket-keeper has selected for the upcoming edition and will represent Barbados Tridents in the league.

Barbados Tridents signed Smit Patel for CPL 2021:

The Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Smit Patel has been signed by the Barbados Tridents ahead of the 9th edition of the tournament. He became the second Indian cricketer after Pravin Tambe to feature in the competition. Pravin Tambe made his CPL debut for the Pollard-led Trinbago Knight Riders side in 2020.

Considering the reports from other sources, the right-arm leggie is likely to miss the CPL 2021 for personal reasons. Smit Patel has come to the spotlight and became the talk of the city due to his presence in the Indian team which defeated Australia in the finals of the 2012 U-19 World Cup.

After that, the Gujarat born cricketer didn't create much impact on the field and failed in the Indian Premier League as well. But his inclusion in the Caribbean Premier League would be a crucial one as the competition has given a lot of chances for other nation's players and lifted them to the ranks. If everything goes well in the tournament, Smit Patel could raise his name in the field of cricket.
