BCCI likely to send second-string India team for Asia Cup 2021

After defeating the visitors in the 4th Test, India is all set to face off with New Zealand for the World Test Championship Finals at Lord's Cricket Ground on June 18-22. Besides, there have been a lot of rumours about the Asia Cup which is likely to be commenced in the last week of the month.

The tournament was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and is expected to be held in Sri Lanka. The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has told that Asia Cup might be postponed to 2023 once India gets qualified for the WTC finals against New Zealand and also shared few things during the press conference at Karachi.

However, BCCI is likely to send a second-string Indian Team ahead of the Asia Cup 2021 as they will tour England for a five-match Test series after the completion of the WTC Finals.

In addition to that “There’s no other choice. We can’t risk the preparation for the series in England. And cricketers can’t twice undergo quarantine. If the Asia Cup happens, India will have no option but to send a second-string squad,” stated one of the top sources "Times Of India".

India is all set to host the T20 World Cup after completing the five-match Test series against England. It looks clear that BCCI won't send the main players as the Asia Cup team is likely to miss the services of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishab Pant and a few more.

The wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul is expected to lead India for the hat-trick win ahead of the Asia Cup as they already conquered the last two editions of the league and will look forward to conquering this as well. If it happens it will be the 8th win for India in the history of the Asia Cup tournament.
